Modern plastic surgery on the face has gone beyond the concept of a surgical approach to harmonizing the face to make it look more attractive. In the recent past, there has been a boom in the use of aesthetic medicine to improve facial features.
Minimally invasive and surgical removal of double chin
Neck contouring creates a tighter, smoother, and cleaner appearance of the neck and chin. Even without making other changes to the face, improving a thick, wrinkled, or sagging neck can significantly improve appearance, helping the patient look years younger or even as if they have lost weight. Neck contouring can also help restore balance to the facial features by providing a more defined jawline that frames the rest of the face.
What is neck rejuvenation?
Neck rejuvenation refers to various treatments and procedures that aim to improve the appearance of the neck area. It targets common problems such as sagging skin, wrinkles, and excess fat. These procedures include:
- Neck lift: A surgical procedure that tightens and lifts the neck muscles and removes excess skin.
- Neck liposuction: Removes excess fat deposits from the neck to create a more defined jawline.
- Botulinum toxin injections: Helps reduce the appearance of horizontal lines and wrinkles on the neck.
- Laser therapy: Stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin for a more youthful appearance.
- Dermal fillers: These are injected into the neck area to restore volume and smooth out wrinkles.
Facial nerve paralysis
Facial nerve paralysis (also known as facial palsy) refers to paralysis of the muscles that are activated (innervated) by the facial nerve. The paralysis is usually on one side and affects the movements of the forehead, eyes, nose, and mouth.
Paresis can be caused by central or peripheral damage, such as stroke, tumors, inflammation, or trauma. Treatment of facial nerve paralysis is particularly important if the condition has persisted for a long time or if recovery is incomplete.
Inflammation of the facial nerve
Facial nerve paralysis can be caused by inflammation. In this case, it is called facial nerve inflammation. In this case, the peripheral nerve is inflamed due to viruses or bacteria. Possible pathogens are:
- Neurotropic viruses (viruses that infect nerve cells, e.g., HIV)
- Zoster viruses (in the context of zoster oticus)
- Borellia bacteria (neuroborreliosis)
Peripheral facial nerve paralysis
Facial muscle paralysis due to peripheral damage, i.e., damage to the facial nerve (nervus facialis) itself, can have various causes. In 60-75% of cases, the cause is unknown (idiopathic). The remaining 25-40% are due to various causes (Finkensieper et al. 2012).
Possible causes of peripheral facial nerve paralysis:
- Idiopathic
- Here, the cause of the genesis is unknown.
- Traumatic
- The facial nerve is damaged, often as a result of fractures of the petrous part of the temporal bone.
- Tumors
- In most cases, the nerve is damaged by pressure from the tumor. Various tumors can affect the nerve:
- Tumors of the parotid gland (parotid tumors)
- Shvanomas of the facial nerve
- Acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma)
- Pearl tumor (cholesteatoma)
- Tumors in the cerebellopontine angle
- Spread of tumor cells in the meninges (neoplastic meningitis)
- In most cases, the nerve is damaged by pressure from the tumor. Various tumors can affect the nerve:
- Iatrogenic (caused by medical intervention)
- Damage to the facial nerve may also occur as a possible complication of surgical removal of the parotid or submandibular gland.

Otoplasty
Otoplasty (cosmetic ear surgery) corrects ear abnormalities, including protruding ears, overly large ears, or deformed ears. This surgery can also correct ears that have been damaged by trauma. Otoplasty offers a permanent solution that can improve the appearance of your ears and boost your self-confidence.

Chin surgery
Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, genioplasty, or chin augmentation, is a surgical procedure that aims to change the size of the chin to achieve a more proportional and aesthetic face by correcting congenital facial asymmetries or those caused by an accident. Chin surgery can be performed by placing an implant or by altering the bones.
